Self-therapy with chocolate: My Therapy Bar

I saw My Therapy Bar at an event one day… the packaging looked super interesting and I was dying to try the chocolate but it actually wasn’t set out for people to eat… so I forgot about it, until I started working for the West Coast Christmas Show (Dec 2-4).

Shadi Javadi runs a company called Deliss Chocolate, and their bar is the My Therapy Bar. Interesting title eh? Makes us think about all those tubs of ice cream and XL slices of cheesecake we had during those not so great times. What’s great about My Therapy Bar is that you can turn to them in those times too, but you’ll be sure to feel a lot less guilt-free.

First of all, look at the red Dark Chocolate Bar. It says “I love you…” Now, it doesn’t really matter who’s saying it. The point is you’re loved. Period. And the “…” makes you wonder what’s next. What’s next, you ask? Well, you open the box, of course.

Inside each package is an inspirational quote. It’s true – without love – and self-love, for that matter, what makes life worth living? Well, the answer to that is, chocolate, my friends. I sampled both dark chocolates at the Christmas Show and went for the 60% (they have 50% dark and 50% milk). It is delish, I tell you. Two blocks with some green tea is a perfect low calorie dessert. Not that you won’t want to eat more. I could easily have eaten the whole bar. But, I do have self-love after all.

Normally, I wouldn’t have gone for the milk chocolate (30%) but I saw hazelnuts and I was sold. Immediately I thought of those cold winter mornings where Nutella spread on a piece of hot toast made everything better…

The milk is delicious. Really. Eat-the-whole-bar worthy. But, as I said, I’m saving the rest for later.

A few tidbits about the product:

- It’s gluten free. (Yeah!)
- It’s made of all natural ingredients. (Yeah!)
- It’s produced right here in Vancity. (Yeah! Let’s not care so much where the chocolate is from.)
- The dark is mostly vegan, with the exception of sugar. And the box says it might contain traces of milk.
- Allergy alert: May contain peanuts, milk, and tree nuts, depending on the bar you buy.
- Deliss Chocolate’s tagline is: “Changing generations one woman at a time…” Why men can’t eat this bar, I don’t know. But women like me are sure to gravitate toward it! We need all the inspiration we can get in life!

Where to buy the bar: Various locations of Whole Foods, Urban Fare, Save On Foods, Donald’s Market, Stong’s Market, Uptown Market, Bella Gelateria, Lusso Baby, and Em Salon and Spa.
