MuLondon Organic Foaming Face Wash

As previously mentioned, I learned about MuLondon through a fellow blogger & tweeter, Jenny Wong. I had finished my Consonant Body Organic Foaming Face Wash and since MuLondon had a very similar product with even more quantity and cheaper ($28 CDN including shipping), I decided to try her out.

MuLondon Organic Fragrance-Free Foaming Face Wash – $12 pounds / $28 CDN incl. shipping

Just like Consonant, one pump of this product provides more than enough lather and coverage. My skin feels clean and a bit on the dry side, but it is Winter after all. After toning and moisturizing, it feels more normal. It isn’t completely fragrant free – there is a slight smell, but most definitely not of chemicals. The ingredients are clearly labelled on the front – and even translated – and no signs of toxins are to be found. Also, I’m noticing that in the afternoon – during the times I’m usually oilier in the T-zone – I’m not so much anymore. So that’s a great sign that this is a really balanced cleanser that isn’t too harsh and drying. And it feels clean! Exactly what I look for in a good cleanser.

The packaging was a little extreme, as the cleanser itself was bubble wrapped and then packaged with about six sheets of tissue paper. But I guess you have to protect this stuff during shipping. It also came with a brochure on their popular moisturizers, and a note about the skincare line signed by Boris himself, the MuLondon founder and “head cream-whipper”.

What not many people care about when it comes to skincare products are all of the logos of the organizations that certify how they’re made. There were two logos on the face wash that I wanted to check out:

Registered with the Vegan Society (no animal products used)

PETA (People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals)

In addition, they boast some other certifications you may or may not have seen before:

Green America Approved Business

MuLondon is a member of Green America, which shows dedication to sustainability and fair labour practices in the manufacturing process.

The Campaign for Safe Cosmetics

According to the flyer, MuLondon is one of only 250 members of the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics. It’s also a registered Humane Corp., meaning it doesn’t support charities that fund or conduct animal testing. Wow!

MuLondon’s moisturizers have all of these certifications, and many of the ingredients are certified organic – I wonder if there is a logo that indicates organic certification, because I’m sure there are some companies out there that just add “Organic” to greenwash.

MuLondon boasts 100% natural, food-grade ingredients, no chemicals, no water dilution, super concentration, and handmade in London UK. Apart from the fact that the products aren’t made here, you can’t get any better than that. While I don’t believe all skincare lines should be this perfect, it goes to show you how much garbage is put into the products we all may have put on our skin at one time or another, and the effect it has on both animals and the earth. If you are wondering about what the harmful toxins are that may be present in your skincare products, I’m happy to share that with you.

I’m following MuLondon on Twitter so that if they ever open a location in Canada or Vancouver, I want to be the first to know!
