Middle Child’s Year (of Reviews) in Review

It hasn’t completely been a year since I started Middle Child Reviews, but it sure feels like I’ve done a lot of ‘em!

Thank WordPress for the existence of this blog and the ability to share reviews of great places, events, films, and products.  It’s been great to have an additional outlet other than Yelp where I can post cool stuff.

April 2010: I celebrate my birthday with one of the best meals of my life at Vij’s and got a photo with VV himself – totally worth the 1.5 hour wait.

my new & true Green products

I’ve wanted to do a post on a while about the eco-friendly products I use daily. The truth is, I don’t use many.

PriceSmart, which opened by my place in the King Edward Village, has been my new favourite place to shop for groceries. It’s no CHOICES, and doesn’t have a pharmacy where I can my contact lens solution, but they have some great veggie options for food and a great shelf of natural beauty products.

1) I started by moving from Secret’s Flawless Clear Gel Vanilla Scent (which I originally used to avoid white marks on my black shirts, to no avail) to Lafe’s Natural and Organic Deodorant Stick.

Laundry is good with LG’s SteamWasher

One of the perks that comes with living beneath my parents is being able to take advantage of the appliances that are shared by the house.

They just renovated the laundry room and took the opportunity to dump the dryer (that came with the house), sell the washer, and get a new washer and dryer set. They chose LG’s Large Capacity SteamWasher and dryer, which are energy AND water efficient. To use these appliances, a more expensive “high efficiency” laundry detergent is required, and is inserted into a little plastic container in a drawer, which also holds bleach and other unnecessary ingredients.  However, with the money you save on water and energy use, a couple of extra bucks on detergent should be no problem.
