Give back post: Vancouver do-gooders

This year I’ve seen and met some awesome businesses that by nature, are giving back to society. So I thought that in light of the holidays I’d also do a post thanking these folks for what they do, and letting all of you know they’re out there.

1) S2S Nation

I first met Jamie Marriot of S2S Nation at the Sociable! book launch, when he was still coming up with a logo. To be honest, I thought he was just one of those guys starting another t-shirt company.

Fast forward months later in August, I saw Jamie again, now sporting his own t-shirt, designed by artist Zerobriant. The thing about these shirts is that they’re all designed by artists, and all made of bamboo or organic cotton. Now that’s pro-Earth and pro-artist!

I’ve been happy to run into Jamie at several more events and even gotten his (hopefully also eco-friendly) cloth bag at an event.

Read more about S2S Nation here.

2) Obakki

The search for the ultimate I HEART T-shirt

It’s almost summertime. And as it gets warmer, sleeves must get shorter. During the Olympics, I bought one of I HEART VanArt‘s t-shirts to support local artists while they put on the Made in Vancouver Festival in Yaletown.

Three years ago, I bought an awesome t-shirt in Nagoya, Japan, for my brother that said “I love Jesus and French Fries.” Unfortunately he can’t find it for me to show you what it looks like. Definitely should have bought one for myself.

I am on the hunt for shirts that reflect more things that I love. Or can even learn to love. Because the world can never have enough love! You can bet that I’ll wear your t-shirt proudly if you send it to me to sport, and I’ll also do a post on it with a photo.

Examples:
- Cupcakes. Might as well also add cheesecake, ice cream, cookies, and all other desserts to this list.
- Fried chicken (Yes, I know I’m vegetarian. But you gotta have it at least once a year. Soul food.)
- Trees and anything related to saving the Earth.
- Travelling
- Yoga
- Film
- Books
- Running
- Old school hip hop music. I love all genres too, including adult contemporary (think Air Supply, Hall & Oates).
- Snowboarding
- Roller coasters
- Anything techy.

I’m open to more things to love (as long as they are not offensive) and especially more creative things like the Japanese t. If you have any tees you’d like to donate to my cause, give me a shout and I’ll send you my address.

My size is Ladies M, or Men’s XS / S
